Designer Body Hawaii
Tonight's challenge was incredible, though. To think a garment created in a day could get on the cover of a major national fashion magazine on super model Heidi Klum- wow!
I thought some of the designers really weren't thinking about the fact that this was going to be an April cover. Colors were clearly an issue for many, such as the pale peach and the washed out gray. The winner, Anthony, was wise to choose turquoise. All the prognosticators are saying that turquoise will be THE color for spring, so it makes sense to make it the April cover color.
All in all, there were some remarkable results in so little time with such a tough assignment. I thought Emilio's red jersey had great lines and beautiful details; Ben's sculptural approach looked cover-ready and Jay's confection was so lovely and had soft details right where you would need them for a cover - at the shoulder. Jay has had a good showing in every challenge and has never embarrassed himself or created a weak garment. He won a really difficult challenge - making a gorgeous dress out of a burlap sack. I'm a believer!
When I interviewed Jay before the season began he told me that Alexander McQueen was his favorite designer. What a terribly sad time....
