How long have you been in business?
The Salon has been open for just under 2 years, but I have been designing for over 10 years. Before I designed couture wedding gowns, I designed for Anne Klein, The Limited and BCBG Max Azria.
What inspired you to start your business?
I started designing for weddings during my sister’s search for her perfect gown. She actually purchased her gown from a very “reputable” Salon in Orange County. She told the sales people what she was looking for and when she got it, nothing was as she had asked. This was because they had no design knowledge and did not understand that certain elements could not be done as they had described. So to make a long story short, I designed and created a new gown for my sister with less than a month to her wedding! All this while I was still living in New York via many long conversations and Fed Ex packages!
Tell us why you think your business is successful.
I believe that if every bride could have their gown custom made at a reasonable price, they would. I cater to that belief and create couture that is accessible to all.
What makes your business unique?
Unlike many other Salons, I actually custom design all of my gowns and make each and every one here at the Salon in Pasadena. My brides can choose a gown from my Collection or I can create a completely couture gown for them. Each gown is made to fit perfectly for each of my clients starting with the design. So, instead of ordering a gown and then altering it to a Bride, my gowns are created from the ground up to fit the bride perfectly.
Is there a particular niche you target?
My brides tend to be searching for something different. A gown that is sophisticated, elegant, modern and of course above all else… couture.
What is your company’s philosophy when working with wedding couples?
Your wedding day is one of the most important days of your life, I try to make each and every one of my clients feel just that. I actually close the Salon for each appointment, so that my clients have my complete undivided attention. I don’t use sales people, I meet one on one with each Bride during all fittings, alterations, etc. I design gowns for all women, no matter what shape, size, age…it doesn’t matter…they should all look and feel as beautiful as they are!
At what point in the planning process do you typically work with couples?
I usually require a minimum of 4-5 months to create a gown. If the gown is more complicated with beading and embroidery, it may take a bit longer.
